Kwoklyn Wan to star at Northampton Winter Food Festival

8th October 2018

Chinese chef Kwoklyn Wan will add a touch of the Orient to the Northampton Winter Food Festival in November when he performs on the chef demo stage.

Kwoklyn has Chinese cooking in his DNA. His grandfather and father were both restaurateurs and he and brother Gok – the fashion guru who found fame with the hit TV show ‘How to Look Good Naked’ – grew up playing among the tables and chairs.

He said: “The restaurant was on two floors. Gok and I would literally be playing upstairs when customers were downstairs, chasing each other around the room and hiding under the tables.”

Kwoklyn gravitated from hide and seek to the kitchen but broke away from cooking to launch a high-flying career in martial arts. The 45-year-old returned to his first love in 2015 and launched, his cookery website.

In January, he will publish The Chinese Takeaway Cookbook, featuring recipes for the nation’s favourite takeway dishes, and launch an online cookery school, Kwok on Kitchen.

Kwoklyn recently appeared on ITV’s This Morning with brother Gok cooking a feast for presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield. He will join a host of fabulous local cooks who will be giving free, hourly cooking demonstrations.

Northampton Winter Food Festival is a celebration of artisan food and drink with nearly a third of the stall-holders based locally. It takes place under cover at The County Ground in Northampton on Saturday November 10 and Sunday November 11 with free parking on Abington Park.

As well as over 80 food and drink stalls, there will be plenty of free foodie fun to enjoy including, chef demos, wine tastings, food talks and gin tastings hosted by Warner Edwards, Northamptonshire’s award winning distillers. Adult tickets are £6 in advance or £8 on the day. Children over ten are £3.
